Replace Repeated Text Across a PDF — Free & Private

Rebrands and rewrites hit PDFs hardest: a company name in the footer of forty pages, an old domain in every header, a person's name scattered through a report. Editing them one by one in a PDF editor is miserable. This tool finds every occurrence at once, shows you each one with its page number, and lets you untick any you want to keep before applying.

Three actions are available: Replace text swaps the wording (the affected line is redrawn in a standard font), Black box masks each occurrence like a redaction mark, and White out makes it disappear into the page. The "permanently remove" option re-renders changed pages so the original text is physically gone from the file — the same technique as our Redact tool.

FAQ

Will the replacement match the original font?

The replaced line is redrawn in a standard font (Helvetica) at the original size and position. For body text it blends well; for stylized headings, the editor's inline text editing gives you more control.

Is the old text really gone?

In the fast mode, changes are drawn on top and the original remains in the file's data. Tick "Permanently remove original text" to re-render the affected pages as images, which physically deletes it — the right choice for sensitive replacements.

Can it replace text inside scanned pages?

Scans have no text layer to search. Run the document through OCR with the "Searchable PDF" output first, then find & replace will see the text.
